Restart of production at major plants

Hitachi Construction Machinery expresses sympathy to the people who are suffering from the effects of the Earthquake off the Pacific Coast of Tohoku, which struck on March 11.
Information concerning the state of production at our major plants was provided on March 16. This report is an update on the present state of production, which is as follows.

State of production at major plants
Work to restore buildings and production facilities is underway at plants in Ibaraki Prefecture. Concerning Hitachinaka Works and Hitachinaka Rinko Works, for which it was impossible to forecast when production would restart at the time of the previous report (March 16), portions of production operations started today (March 28) as a result of efforts in examining facilities and the restoration work.
Ryugasaki Works, Tsuchiura Works and Kasumigaura Works, which restarted portions of production operations earlier, and the plants mentioned above, will raise production gradually to reach the level before the earthquake.

Products As of the previous report (March 16) Present
Ryugasaki Works Wheel loaders Portions of production operations were expected to restart around March 17. Already started portions of production operations (as planned).
Tsuchiura Works Small and midsize hydraulic excavators Portions of production operations were expected to restart around March 21. Already started portions of production operations (as planned).
Kasumigaura Works Reduction gears , swing bearings, rollers, etc., for small and midsize hydraulic excavators Portions of production operations were expected to restart around March 22. Already started portions of production operations (as planned).
Hitachinaka Works Key components for large and ultra-large hydraulic excavators, mining dump trucks, etc. Examining facilities, doing restoration work. Started portions of production operations on March 28.
Hitachinaka Rinko Works Large and ultra-large hydraulic excavators, mining dump trucks Examining facilities, doing restoration work. Started portions of production operations on March 28.
